Long Weekends & Getaways

With the first bank holiday of the year under our belts and the memory of a four-day weekend firmly implanted in our minds, we’ve been pondering the merits of getting away from it all.

A break from routine, be it a stolen 24 hours or a pre-planned long weekend, is just the ticket when it comes to a much needed chance to restore calm and reset energy levels.

The excitement of planning a mini escape starts with the packing of an overnight bag and culminates in the happy sigh that comes with realizing you have no agenda, no daily To Do list to tick off and no responsibilities. Temporarily at least.

Whether it’s a mini break à deux, a trip away with friends or a family escape, given the opportunity there are a few favourite places we love to run to here in the south of England.

Devon and Cornwall with their rugged coastal beauty spots are both high on the list and we find we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding which picturesque seaside town to decamp to.

Bath is perfect when a city break with a laid back vibe is called for and then there are the numerous locales in The Cotswolds that beg for return visits as often as possible. Being based near the New Forest and a just stone’s throw from so many gorgeous beaches, finding a place to unwind locally is also wonderfully easy.
