Destination: Hawaii – Connock London’s Inspiration

Destination: Hawaii – Connock London’s Inspiration

Hawaii is definitely up there with the most extraordinary locations across the world. It’s diverse terrain makes it a place that ticks all the boxes. There’s rainforest, sandy beaches, volcanic terrain and surrounding waters, filled with breath-taking sea life. Then there’s its wonderful culture and historical stories from Pearl Harbour to treasured tradition. It’s a place known for its bursting colour, incredible flavours and feel-good vibe.

Amanda and her family have been visiting the islands for many years after her father Alan’s discovery of Kukui Oil here back in the 1990s. The Connock family continue to work with the same supplier of Kukui Oil and have visited the small factory of which is originates many times.

As the inspiration behind our best-selling Kukui fragrance and with Kukui Oil very much a key ingredient in our products, we thought we’d dedicate this blog to wonderful Hawaii and some of its synergy with our collection:

The Home of Kukui Oil

Kukui Oil originates from Hawaii, more specifically from the Kukui Nut Tree, a treasured, native tree that is famed for its many uses amongst Hawaiians even in the present day. Oil extracted from the nuts is known for its healing benefits, which is why we use this ingredient in products such as our Nourishing Hand Cream.

Glorious Gardenia

The famous flower of Hawaii. Our beautiful Kukui fragrance celebrates the Gardenia flower as well as the  complementing notes of Jasmine, Bergamot and Sandalwood. This fragrance forms much of our collection. To discover more, browse using the link below…

Kukui Means ‘Light’

Used by native Hawaiians as torches, the nuts would be shelled and the oil would fuel enough heat to light the way, giving Kukui the English name of ‘candlenut’. We have translated this tradition into candle form within our collection with our Kukui Oil Candle.
